Working with families with children up to age 18 years at times of stress or crisis SERVICES Children First Derby is a local registered charity working to make a positive impact on the community it serves. It seeks to achieve this through the provision of high quality services to improve the quality of family life by offering support to parents and their children. Befriending ServiceWe run a Befriending Service for parents in need of support. Our trained volunteers visit their families on a regular basis. They offer emotional support and will also accompany their clients to appointments that the client finds daunting. The nature of befriending varies according to the needs of the client. Referrals are mainly from health care workers and social workers, although parents who feel in need can ask for a befriender. More information ... Supervised Contact ServiceIn partnership with Derby City Children and Young People's Services we run a supervised contact service for children in long term public care. This enables the children to meet with their birth families and carers in a family friendly environment.
