Volunteering

Since the Charity began in 1974 volunteers have always had a vital role in supporting us to deliver services and run the charity. Please see below for more information regarding the various volunteering roles within the organisation.

The charity has been awarded the “Investing in Volunteers” nationally recognised seal of excellence. We provide access to free NVQ training courses, personal and professional development opportunities and one to one supervision.

There are three volunteering opportunities with Children First Derby:

Befriending Service Volunteer Click for info

Volunteer Befrienders provide support to parents and families (on average 3 hours per week).

The aim of the service is to provide the family with the skills that enables them to work through or come to terms with difficult situations, make positive decisions in their lives and access local community support networks/services this also has a positive impact on the children in the family.

Admin Volunteers Click for info

As with any organisation there is a large amount of administration connected to its day to day running. Admin volunteers work with the administrator undertaking a range of tasks.

The times and days are flexible to suit your needs. Some IT experience is preferable but not essential. We can provide training if you wish to develop your IT or admin skills.

Trustees Click for info

Trustees are members of our Management Committee. They meet on the second Monday of each month at 6.00pm. Trustees set the policy and direction of the Charity.

They are responsible for ensuring that the Charity operates in an efficient and effective manner. We welcome people with life experience and a commitment to the charity objectives.

Trustees promote the mission and values of Children First Derby. From time to time sub-groups are set up to look at aspects of the work of the Charity. These subgroups are varied and include fundraising, training development, strategic direction, health and safety and budgets.

If you would like to become part of our diverse and vibrant volunteer team then please contact us for more information or an informal chat.
