Clan Derby raises over £1,000 for Children First Derby We would like to say a HUGE Thank You to the members of Clan Derby who have raised an impressive £1,303.65 for Children First Derby. Established in 2012, Clan Derby is a local group comprised of members who have either Scottish ancestry or an interest in Scottish heritage. Under usual circumstances, the clan enjoy monthly get-togethers where they meet to enjoy football and rugby games and celebrate Scottish historical events. Each year the group nominates a charity to support, organising a series of fundraising initiatives such as an annual Kilt walk, raffles, bucket collections and football cards to help raise funds and awareness for their chosen charity partner. We were delighted when Clan Derby selected Children First Derby as their chosen charity partner in 2020. However, due to the effects of the pandemic, many of the Clan’s planned fundraising events were then cancelled or postponed. In view of this, the group generously offered to support Children First Derby for an additional year – extending their support to us throughout 2021. This included members taking part in the popular annual Kiltwalk in mid-August 2021 where they completed a 10 mile Kiltwalk which started from Eaton Farm pub in Long Eaton and finished at Ye Olde Spa Inne in Derby. We were recently invited to attend the Clan’s 10th Birthday celebrations, held at Littleover Social Club, where we had a chance to say Thank You in person to the members for their generous and continued support and to join in with the wonderful celebrations - where we enjoyed the Highland Dancing and the awesome pipers! Children First Derby Fundraising Coordinator, Gina Repton, took to the stage to say a few words about the charity, before being presented with the fundraising cheque. Thank you to all the Clan Derby members for your fantastic support – it is greatly appreciated.
