We’re extremely proud of our Children First Derby Youth Forum group who took the lead in organising a hugely successful Family Fun Day – which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Our Mentee Youth Forum group was formed in 2018 to represent all the young people from our Mentoring Service and comprises a select group of past and present mentees and also includes young people who are on our waiting list to join our Mentoring programme.

The Youth Forum meet quarterly and the young people have their say on how Children First Derby’s Mentoring Services are delivered - voicing their thoughts and ideas, and actively shaping what we do.

The Family Fun Day proved to be a great success and it was lovely to see so many of our supported children, young people and their families enjoying themselves with activities including a football Penalty Shootout competition, a raffle, a lucky dip, hair braiding, basketball shooting and outdoor games. There was also plenty of food and drinks available throughout the event for everyone to enjoy.

We would like to say a HUGE Thank You to the Youth Forum team for all their hard work in organising this event, and to all the staff and volunteers who contributed towards making this such a fantastic event for all - with a special Thank You to Carina James and her Niece, Sophie, who baked some fabulous cup cakes for the event which were absolutely delicious!

Children First Derby Mentoring Coordinator, Kerreene Davidson, and Assistant Mentoring Coordinator, Mark Davidson would like to give Special Thanks to the local businesses who generously donated towards the event, helping to make this such a special day for our supported families.
