We’d like to say a HUGE congratulations to our friend and supporter, Karen Jones, who braved Sunday’s drizzly conditions to complete the Derby 10K – achieving a new personal best and raising over £685 for Children First Derby.

After successfully completing the Couch to 5K in January 2021, Karen set herself a target to complete Derby’s biggest race, the Derby County Community Trust Derby 10K - where runners from across the region come together, racing across the streets of Derby.

Aiming initially to raise £300 for our charity, we’re delighted to hear that Karen has more than doubled this amount, with donations still flooding in.

Running 5K three times a week as part of her training, Karen managed to beat her personal best, finishing the race in 1-hour eleven minutes and fifty-seven seconds – which is amazing!

Returning for the first time since 2019, there was a fantastic turnout for Derby’s popular 10K race, which started and finished at Pride Park Stadium. And Karen was cheered over the line by family and friends, including Children First Derby Fundraising Coordinator, Gina Repton.

We would like to say a heartfelt Thank You to Karen for her fantastic efforts, raising over £685 to help us support local vulnerable children, young people and families.

And congratulations to everyone who tackled this year’s Derby 10K.
