Children First Derby Team Visit the University of Derby Some of our team recently visited the University of Derby, talking to the Sport Management students about their upcoming fundraising ideas and activities, to support Children First Derby. Each year, as part of their studies, the Sport Management students initiate a series of events and activities to help raise funds and awareness for a local charity. And we are delighted that they have once again chosen to support Children First Derby. Last year, despite the challenges presented by covid which meant all the student's planned in-person events had to be swiftly adapted and taken online, the students collectively raised a fantastic £1,500 for our charity – which was amazing! Whilst still in the initial planning stages of their fundraising events, this year’s students were keen to find out more information about how they can best support our charity. The morning started with a presentation led by Children First Derby CEO, Irshad Baqui, introducing the students to the valuable work the charity does to support local vulnerable children, young people and families. Fundraising Coordinator, Gina Repton, went on to outline details of the charity’s fundraising events and activities, expertly showcasing how to run a successful fundraising event. Followed by a talk from our PR and Marketing Coordinator, Kerrie Oxford, outlining how to devise a successful marketing campaign to promote the events using social media. After the presentations, Fundraising Officer, Louise Webb, assisted the Children First Derby team, who spent time talking with each of the student groups to find out more about their planned fundraising events. The Team were extremely impressed with the fundraising ideas put forward, and they are looking forward to watching these ideas progress and working with the students to help support their fundraising events and promotional activities. And we would like to say a special Thank You to Sport Management Lecturer, James Bostock, and to everyone at the University of Derby, for their ongoing support of Children First Derby. We will keep you posted on the progress of the student’s initiatives.
