Local Author and Artist donates wellbeing resources to Children First Derby We’d like to say a HUGE Thank You to local author and artist, Mandy Kay, for donating some fabulous ‘My Happy Art Boxes,’ and ‘How to stay Happy’ wellbeing workbooks, to help our supported children and young people who may be struggling with their mental health. Founder of My Happy Art Box, an exciting new fundraising campaign designed to bring art and crafts to children and young adults who are suffering with their mental wellbeing, Mandy is also a passionate advocate for those suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). After suffering herself from OCD, Mandy is keen to create awareness for the illness and has written a book called ‘This is Mandy’ to help reduce the stigma and shame which often surrounds the disorder. Mandy kindly donated a few of her authored books, to help any of our supported children who may themselves be experiencing OCD symptoms. Children First Derby are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our supported children, young people, and families. Our services work hard to provide support for our families who may be struggling with emotional issues, including low self-esteem and lack of confidence, and to those experiencing low level mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. In addition to providing support for our children and young people, we have also partnered with local not-for-profit mental health support organisation, Being Me, to provide an ongoing series of bespoke 8-week Reach for Wellbeing Workshops, offering mental wellbeing support to some of our parents and carers. Thank you, Mandy, for offering us some additional resources to help support our children and young people’s wellbeing – it is greatly appreciated.
