Miller Homes Midlands Raises nearly £8,000 for Children First Derby New homes builder, Miller Homes East Midlands, has raised an incredible £7,971 on behalf of chosen charity partner Children First Derby throughout 2021. Along with fundraising events which included dress down days, raffles and a ‘Miller miles challenge’, one member of the team, Alan Alsop, took part in the Ironman Challenge raising £1,500. Miller Homes then matched the total raised to provide funds which will allow Children First Derby to continue providing its vital services which rely on charitable donations. Pictured completing the Ironman challenge in support of Children First Derby is Miller Homes Regional Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor, Alan Alsop Commenting on the team’s fundraising efforts, Alastair Parsons, Area Sales Director for Miller Homes Midlands, said: The past two years have been extremely challenging for charities and not-for-profit organisations across the nation, especially those who offer face-to-face services. Following a series of lockdowns and large periods of isolation, the opportunities for in-person fundraising decreased in 2020 and 2021, resulting in a huge loss of funds for so many charities like Children First Derby. By coming together as a team, we were able to do our bit to support a local cause that helps so many young people and families. The work that Children First Derby does is integral to our wider community, helping to create safer environments for families to flourish. Many of our team have significant personal connections to this organisation, and have seen the vital work they do first-hand, which is why this cause was particularly special to us. It’s fantastic to have been able to support all their brilliant efforts as they continue to transform lives in and around Derbyshire. Alastair Parsons visited the Children First Derby office recently to meet some of the team and to hand over the cheque for £7,971 Alastair Parsons, Area Sales Director for Miller Homes Midlands, pictured handing over the cheque to Children First Derby CEO, Irshad Baqui, and Fundraising Coordinator, Gina Repton Irshad Baqui, Children First Derby CEO, said: We were delighted to have been chosen as Miller Homes East Midlands’ charity partner for 2021. Children First Derby relies on public funding and fundraising to operate our mentoring and family support services. And our fundraising capacity was greatly reduced due to the effects of the pandemic, which proved to be an incredibly challenging time for the charity. We’d like to thank each and every person at Miller Homes for their fantastic support and unending determination in raising this incredible amount of money for our charity. These vital funds will go towards helping us continue to support local vulnerable children, young people and families across Derbyshire. Miller Homes East Midlands has decided to continue their partnership with Children First Derby, extending their support throughout 2022, with a variety of fundraising events already planned for the year.
